UV Curable

UV Curable Printing (aka DTS, Flatbed, UV)

Designtex uses a variety of UV curing inkjet printers to image a wide variety of substrates including, but not limited to, wallcovering, window films, and rigid materials. We tested a wide range of printers extensively before settling on devices manufactured by HP, CET and OCE .

UV curable printing is a digital relative of silkscreen printing. Using a digital workflow, UV curable inks (free-radical inks) are sprayed onto a substrate (either a flat board or rolled material) and then immediately exposed to ultraviolet light that cures the inks instantly. Cured UV inks are exceptionally durable and colorfast.

Environmental impacts
UV curable printing can be considered a more environmentally preferable technology for imaging high performance materials, especially as compared to solvent based printing systems. Because the image is printed directly to the substrate, no adhesive is used in the finishing process. It is the use of adhesive that makes most imaged materials non-recyclable. Many direct printed materials that are recyclable, can still be recycled after imaging.

Media available
Wallcovering, rigid substrates, window films, pressure sensitive vinyls.

Archival quality
Three year outdoor; virtually unlimited when used indoor.
